TOKYO, April 30, 2012 - Hitachi Solutions, Ltd. today announced that its new Credeon Endpoint Encryption security product designed to protect PCs will be available starting April 30 in North America. The new product, the first in what will be a series of Credeon information security solutions, offers full disk encryption for PCs with easy installation and management to meet the needs of the global market. The encryption module is the first in the world to receive joint third-party validation, acknowledging its safety. Going forward, Hitachi Solutions expects to leverage its advantages in security technology to become a major presence in the worldwide security market as it continues to add to the Credeon series.
Information security has become an issue of universal concern as cloud computing and mobile devices have become increasingly popular. In the US, social trends such as the digitization of healthcare records has led to states and industry groups strengthening security regulations and to a growing awareness of security in the business sector. In this situation, with more state laws establishing data encryption as a disclaimer in the duty of notification when there has been an information leak, forecasts call for data encryption to become more and more important in coming years.
Hitachi Solutions has already provided Japanese companies with a broad portfolio of security solutions including network security devices and software, ranging from firewall to endpoint products. Making the most of this experience and know-how, the company developed Credeon Endpoint Encryption, a full disk encryption product that can be easily installed without any down time. The product, which will deliver world-class quality and has been designed for companies outside of Japan where software applications are installed directly by corporate information systems departments, will be marketed by Hitachi Solutions America, Ltd.
Credeon Endpoint Encryption eases the workload on administrators since it requires no server. Also, because it encrypts the entire hard disk, there is no possibility of a third party being able to view stored data even if a notebook PC is lost or stolen. Moreover, the reliable safety of the encryption module has been recognized with acquisition of the world's first joint validation through the encryption module testing and validation programs of Japan's Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) and the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Going forward, Hitachi Solutions will enhance Credeon Endpoint Encryption by adding encryption functionality for folders, files and media, and will make a product version for security on mobile devices. The company also intends to expand the Credeon series to comprehensively protect information in customers' businesses by providing data loss prevention (DLP), which prevents the leakage of information by automatically discriminating the content of files, on top of protecting data after leakage through encryption. By expanding its target market globally to include Asia and other regions, the company expects the Credeon series to reach 2 billion yen in sales in fiscal 2015.
Credeon is a portmanteau of credible and innovation. It is meant to convey Hitachi Solutions' determination to be a reliable partner by providing innovative and simple security solutions that comprehensively protect customers' businesses anywhere, anytime.
